One of the great things about Grandma and Grandpa being nearby is their backyard. There is lots of room for the kids to run around and play. This week my parents added a new toy to the backyard. We have all had a lot of fun on it already.
Anyone who knows me knows that I was soooo nervous to have a boy. I'm sure God knew that when he blessed me with Grant. He is definitely 100% boy, but he is such a sweetheart.
Here he is with baby bear. Baby bear was a gift to Reanne when she was a baby. All the kids liked him, but Grant loves him. Baby bear is his bear now. He pretty much has to go everywhere with Grant. I'm scared to death that he will be lost one day and Grant will have lost his best friend.
Every night Grant makes sure that baby bear is tucked in bed with him. Sometimes we even hear him wake up in the night and start to cry. Is he crying for mom or dad? No. He wants to make sure baby bear is still with him. As soon as he finds him he goes right back to sleep. When Grant wakes up in the morning he grabs baby bear and bear licks him all over his face. It is so sweet to watch.
Reanne performed a dance number with her class in the 2nd grade talent show this week. They danced to Hawaii 5-O. It was totally awesome! :) Other highlights of the 2 1/2 hour performance included soccer, hula hooping, jump rope and balloon bouncing. I could have totally been in this talent show.
Last night I took the rare opportunity to go out with my mom, sister and aunt to Riverdance, playing at the University of Utah theater. It was pretty fun. I had actually bought the CD in college because I had performed a waltz routine to one of the songs so I knew most of the music. I can't find the CD now of course. The dancing was great and I was pleasantly surprised when they introduced other tapping dancers besides just the Irish ones. They had a flamenco dancer and some American tap dancers who also performed.
I wasn't supposed to take any pictures during the show, but my sister convinced me to. It didn't really matter. As you can tell, I don't know my camera well enough to get a good one anyway in the dark without a flash. Here are the lovely ladies that came with me. Thanks for the wonderful evening!
It seems like my kids obsess about things. If you know my kids at all you will know what they are obsessing over because they never stop talking about whatever it is. First, it was Star Wars (introduced to them through Jess of course.) That obsession lasted quite a while. Next, it was the cartoon Rugrats. It wasn't really a cartoon I watched a ton, but I saw it on Netflix and remembered it and thought my kids would like watching it. Bad mistake.
Here is a picture of a trout that Reanne made in art class. It represents Reanne and Sierra's latest obsession. Can you guess what it is?
