Holiday Happenings

During the school break there were some fun activities at our house.  The first fun and exciting thing that happened was that Jess graduated!!  We celebrated by eating brats for dinner and hanging out at home as a whole family.  It's amazing how a simple and low key celebration could be so great.

We also put on the second annual tamale making party.  We got together with Jess's brother and sister and their families.  With everyone pitching in, we made 280 tamales!  There were five different fillings: a traditional red pork with olive, black bean and corn, green chili and cheese, green chili pork, and a chipotle with antelope.  I haven't tried the antelope ones yet, but the rest were amazing.  This is a tradition worth keeping.
We also went sledding a few times at a park with THE perfect sledding hills.  The kids had a blast, with or without sleds.  (Grant went down the hill on his knees half the time.)  I thought it was still a bit cold, but we kept having to remind the kids to keep their jackets and gloves on.

Fun! Thanks for including me in the tamales. Sorry I couldn't help make them... they ARE good though. Hopefully next year I can participate more. :)

Looks like the sledding was really fun. I might want to try it sometime.

That looks awesome! How wonderful to have a freezer full of pre-made amazing food. And the sledding looks divine. Congrats to Jess for graduating!
